Installing a new plugin
- Log into your WordPress Dashboard
- In the left-hand menu click Plugins
- Next to the Plugins section title (at the top of the Plugins section), click the “Add New” button
- Finding the Plugin
- If you need to install the plugin from the WordPress repository
- Use the search bar on the right-hand side of the section to search for the plugin you are looking for
- Once you have found the plugin, click the “Install Now” button to the right of your plugin’s title
- Wait for it to install
- Once installed, the button will change color and say “Activate Plugin”
- Click the “Activate” button
- If you have the plugin downloaded to your device
- Click the “Upload Plugin” button at the top of the section
- Click the “Choose File” button
- Locate the file on your device
- Click “Open”
- Click the “Install Now” button
- WordPress will then install the plugin
- Once it has been installed successfully, a button will appear that says “Activate Plugin”
- Click the “Activate Plugin” button
- If you need to install the plugin from the WordPress repository
- After the plugin has been successfully activated
- Depending on the plugin, you may be prompted to edit the settings of it
- Every plugin is different and settings may or may not be required for it to work correctly
- Make sure you follow the instructions on your specific plugin to set it up correctly
Deactivating a Plugin
- Log into your WordPress Dashboard
- In the left-hand menu click Plugins
- Locate the plugin you wish to deactivate
- Click the “Deactivate” link under the title of the plugin you wish to deactivate
